One of India’s top 10 Engineering Colleges runs its Computer Center with EnCloudEn VDI
Support more students & projects with a minimal budget
The increased adoption of technology in education like online exams, BYOD for students, larger databases and instructional online sessions have created a heavy demand on the IT infrastructure in campuses. It is imperative for the university or school that all of this is achieved without diverting funds meant for other purposes.
Complete Compliance with AICTE/ Other Boards norms
AICTE/ Other Education Boards have come up with strict guidelines on the number of desktops that are mandatory per student as well as department. However, out of all of these terminals, very few actually run concurrently, leading to a huge wastage of resources.
In a virtualized environment, the same infrastructure can be dynamically allocated wherever required. A university would only need to invest in a monitor, keyboard and mouse per terminal. A personalized virtual desktop would be dynamically assigned from the central pool whenever a student logs in. Each student gets the computer as per the detailed requirement without the cost.
Locked Test Environments
Whenever a test or exam needs to be conducted in a computer center, very often we find the Professor having to waste a night or at least quite a few hours setting up the computers. Moreover, he also must save the exam data till they can be evaluated.
VDI enables an instant creation of a perfectly sterile environment for any kind of exams. Whenever a test needs to be conducted, the Professor needs to just prepare one virtual desktop with the test environment and he can then automatically create the requisite number of machines by a single click. After the exam, he can suspend the machines and bring them up later for evaluation.
Central Pool from Grants
There is no shortage of grants received from institutes, but very often they are localized to a particular department or professor. Physical department resources make it impossible to share and create a common beneficial pool for everyone.
With the EnCloudEn private cloud, each new grant can be used to build and increase the size of the institute’s datacenter. With the Louvre platform, we can then create individual silos with quotas for individual departments. T the same resource can be shared by another department/ project whenever it is not being used by the original users without sharing physical devices.
